Now, know the parts of the power cable and their types!

A house cannot be completed without electricity. Electricity is the most important component because it can turn on all kinds of items that are useful for home activities, such as lights, refrigerators, TVs, washing machines and air conditioners. Without it, we cannot do our daily work. In fact, we can get hot and do a lot of homework.

Cables are required for the safe flow of electricity. Cables help conduct electricity to your appliances to light them up. For more information, take a look at all the cables below!

The cable consists of two parts, an insulator and a conductor. The insulator is an exterior that does not conduct electricity. Insulators can protect us from electric shock. In addition, the insulator protects the cable and protects it from the effects of temperature and surroundings. Insulators are usually made of thermoplastic material.

The conductor is inside the cable. This section is made of aluminum or copper. The conductor serves to supply an electric current to the destination. If the conductor is not covered with insulation, you may be electrocuted. Therefore, these two parts complement each other to circulate current without harming the surroundings.

There are many types of electrical cables as well as parts. There are many types of electrical cables on the market. However, there are only three most commonly used types of housing equipment. At first glance, the three are very similar, but different. To help you see the difference, Kania explains below.

HIS cable

NYA is a single core cable with PVC insulation. The conductor is made of copper. HIS is famous for its relatively cheap price compared to the other two cables. Insulators are usually black, blue, yellow, and red. HIS, on the other hand, is an unused cable on the ground, an aerial cable.

The disadvantage of NYA is that it has only one layer of insulation. This makes the insulator not strong enough to protect the interior of the HIS from friction, meteorological factors, and bites from rats and other animals. Therefore, HIS is usually given an additional layer in the form of PVC or iron conduit.

This cable has a PVC insulator and a copper conductor. Cable cores are 2, 3, and 4. In contrast to NYA, NYM is safer because it is coated with two layers of insulation. The outer isolator is white and the inner insulator is colorful. NYM cable is a two-layer insulator, so it is resistant to friction and is not easily damaged. This cable is suitable for use in damp or wet places. Still, you can't put it on the ground!

NYY cable

NYY cable

NYY is a copper 2, 3, and 4-core cable that is insulated from PVC material. Since the NYY is planted especially in the soil, the insulator layer is thick and strong, and it resists rat-bite fever. This cable is black and is also waterproof. Still, especially for high power currents, the NYY needs to be coated with additional pipes for added protection.

You can find these three types of cables at your local building or material store. Installation requires the help of an electrician to prevent unnecessary things such as electric shock. Even when choosing it, you have to adjust your needs and prices. The better the quality of the cable, the more expensive it is.
