The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is a state agency of Texas. The commission oversees several state departments that deal with health and human services, including itself and the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services, Texas Department of State Health Services, and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. The agency employs 9,300 people and has an annual budget of $16 billion. The agency has its headquarters in the Brown-Heatly Building in Austin, Texas. Dr Kyle Janek served as executive commissioner from 2012 until July 2015, when he stepped down and Chris Traylor took over.

In order to better serve the people of Texas, in September 2016, the agency began to transform its processes and procedures to become more efficient and accountable. The State of Texas agency focused its efforts on making the information about their services and benefits easier to access and understand. They began to streamline their services by grouping similar services together. They are holding all employees and stakeholders accountable for performance and defined agency objectives.
